What a Great Week One!

Hard to believe that we're already done with the first week here at GSB. It was a whirlwind of information for all of our students as they went from class to class, getting to know each teacher and all the rules and expectations of each space. Lockers were chosen, computers collected (but not taken home yet), and new names learned throughout our first three days. It's already shaping up to be a brilliant new year!

A couple of new things that the 7th & 8th graders will experience this year is the addition of Advisory time every Monday and Wednesday. Advisory is an opportunity for students to get to know they advisor and peers on a deeper level as well as gaining a stronger identity as a grade level group. The lessons we will gain during that time will help us be better students and people as they move closer toward those high school years.

We had our first experience of an Advisory Assembly this past Friday when all 7&8 students were brought together and reminded about making healthy and safe choices while on campus-- particularly in the cafeteria, in the halls, and on the playground. As the oldest students at GSB, our 7th and 8th graders have been charged with setting the example, and we know that they will live up to the challenge.

Concerning next week, we will begin NWEA testing for all grade levels. Reading testing for 7th and 8th grade will take place on Thursday and Friday, allowing plenty of time for students to complete the assessment. If you have any questions concerning NWEA, please reach out to the GSB front office.

Looking forward to another great week!
